RECALL: Exotics Feed Recalled Due to Potential Salmonella Risk

One lot of this sugar glider pet food has been recalled due to potential Salmonella contamination.

Vitakraft Sun Seed Inc., a pet food and treat manufacturer based in Weston, Ohio, has recalled 1 lot of its Sunseed Vita Prima Exotics Sugar Glider Formula due to potential Salmonella contamination.

The recalled lot has the following attributes:

  • 28-oz bag
  • UPC Number: 87535-20060
  • Lot Number: 271391
  • Expiration Date: 12/20/19
  • Distributed to California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas; and to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Pet owners who have handled the affected products are considered to be at risk for Salmonella infection and should seek medical help if they develop symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, watery or bloody diarrhea, fever, or headache. Similarly, veterinary care should be sought for pets that show any of these signs. All contaminated materials should be washed thoroughly.

No pet or human illnesses due to the recalled product have been reported to date.
