A recent evaluation by a National Research Council committee sheds light on the National Wild Horses and Burros Program.

C: Sorry! It’s much higher than you think: 60 percent of the National Wild Horses and Burros Program budget is used to maintain captive horses. In addition, 11 percent of the BLM’s budget is used to capture and remove animals from public lands and 10 percent goes to adoption programs.
