ST. LOUIS — Nestlé Purina has created new dental health diets that reduce tartar with customized kibble size and complete nutrition for daily feeding of adult dogs and cats.
Purina Veterinary Diets® DH Dental Health™ brand Canine and Feline Formulas feature a patented kibble texture to reduce plaque and tartar buildup, coupled with a highly palatable formula to promote client compliance, the company says
"Home dental care is most effective when it becomes part of the daily routine," says Nestlé Purina research scientist Carolyn Cupp, DVM. "DH offers dental efficacy without sacrificing quality nutrition or palatability. This new formula contains the vital nutrients and taste that pets enjoy eating and owners feel good about feeding."
Canine and feline formulas are large enough to promote the increased chewing time necessary for abrasive cleaning. In addition, the Small Bites formula contains DH's tartar-reducing function in a kibble specifically sized for dogs weighing less than 35 pounds.
DH contains:
- An optimal protein level for overall good health;
- Moderate fat and calories;
- High levels of antioxidants to promote a strong immune system;
- A natural source of glucosamine to help support joint health.
Nestlé Purina developed Dental Chews™ brand Canine Treats, high-protein chew treats that clean teeth and massage gums. A complement to the DH Canine Formulas, Dental Chews have been awarded the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC) Seal of Acceptance for tartar control.
