Overseas veterinarians earn certificates online

Article

British doctors write 10 essays to get postgraduate certification.

The Royal Veterinary College in London has graduated three veterinarians with a postgraduate certification module that includes communication skills, ethical concerns, and more. More than 175 veterinarians are currently enrolled in a wide range of postgraduate modules at the college.

To finish their certification, the three graduates each wrote 10 essays on 10 topics: communication, record keeping, employee management, client service, diagnostic processes, risk analysis, staff reviews, unusual cases, animal welfare, and ethical concerns. The veterinarians earned their degrees via distance learning. “The online support that was offered to course participants-including the online discussion board and assessment of essay plans-helps the students feel supported even though they are studying remotely,” said vice principal Stephen May.
