Edgewood, Md.-Nutramax Laboratories, Inc., pet supplement manufacturer, was pleased that Cosequin was the only veterinary glucosamine chondroitin sulfate product to pass testing by ConsumerLab.com (CL).
Nutramax Vice President Dr. Todd Henderson says, "Now that we have passed (CL's) testing, they have contacted us with questions about the latest veterinary research on joint supplements, since that's our expertise."
CL provides independent test results and information to help consumers and healthcare professionals evaluate health, wellness and nutrition products.
Speaking to CL's testing methods, Henderson adds, "The testing they provide is a good screening tool to see if products meet label claims, however it does not evaluate effectiveness or safety of a product. To date Cosequin is the only brand with published absorption, effectiveness and safety trials in companion animals, and we think veterinarians deserve this level of research on products they use."
