New veterinary operating system unites applications used by practices

January 18, 2022

Conference News | VMX

The Covetrus Pulse system assists with prescription management, communication, dashboards and third-party apps

Covetrus—a global animal-health technology and services provider—is launching Covetrus Pulse, an innovative cloud-based veterinary operating system (vOS) that seamlessly connects veterinarians to the technology they need to manage their practices.

The new vOS will be available April 1, 2022. The system is now being demonstrated for industry professionals at the Veterinary Meeting & Expo in Orlando, Florida.

“Our goal is to provide transformative technology that will enable veterinarians to spend less time on nonclinical tasks and more time treating their pet patients, which will lead to better health outcomes,” said Georgia Wraight, executive vice president and president of global technology solutions at Covetrus, in a company press release.

Covetrus Pulse is designed to unite the applications that veterinary practices rely on into 1 secure, easy-to-use cloud platform that drives improved efficiencies in business operations, animal health, and client experiences. The system allows veterinarians to create, renew, and approve prescriptions; communicate with clients and coworkers; personalize dashboards, and customize with preferred third-party apps, all from a central operating system.

“As veterinary practices face issues related to hiring and retaining staff, we are adapting our products, services and technology so that our veterinarian partners can maximize their productivity and focus their efforts on providing exemplary care to pet patients,” said Ben Wolin, chief executive officer at Covetrus, in a company press release.

According to a recent survey conducted by Covetrus of more than 500 veterinarians and practice staff, 95% of responding veterinary practice leaders consider practice efficiency to be one of the most important objectives for their veterinary practice. Additionally, nearly 70% of the veterinary professionals surveyed would prefer an all-in-1 platform to run their practices, as opposed to current practice management software.
