“Pop Goes the Vet with Dr. Joya” follows one veterinarian and her pet care team as they face a plethora of veterinary dermtaology problems while educating and entertaining the public.

In January, a new show debuted on National Geographic WILD (Nat Geo WILD)—Pop Goes the Vet with Dr. Joya. The new show features Joya Griffin, DVM, DACVD, at Animal Dermatology Clinic in Louisville, Kentucky, and her pet care team. A hit among viewers, it emphasizes the importance of veterinary dermatology to a pet’s well-being.

"I'm so grateful to have this opportunity to share my passion for veterinary dermatology with the world and the care my team and I give our patients," said Joya, in a company release.

"It's great to educate about the importance of skin health in pets. So many common diseases, from allergies to hormonal conditions, manifest themselves through the skin. Helping pet parents recognize these conditions will allow them to get their pets the care they need quickly,” she added.

The program follows Joya as she faces various skin problems such as inflamed skin, sores, bumps and scabs, oozy blisters, scaly lesions, hot spots, cysts, tumors, and beyond. Joya strives to offer her patients relief while addressing client concerns.

According to the release, Joya has received awards for clinical practice and research in veterinary dermatology, plus she has lectured nationwide. She currently practices and mentors new veterinary dermatology residents in Louisville, KY, and sees the show as a chance to educate and entertain the public.

"We are proud of Dr. Joya's new program and excited for her success," remarked Steven Mrha, chief executive officer of Animal Dermatology Group, Inc. "She exemplifies the dedication to the health and welfare of animals that the veterinary community and our team of dermatologists commit to every day."

New episodes of Pop Goes the Vet with Dr. Joya premiere on Nat Geo WILD each Saturday at 10 pm ET/ 7 pm PT. Season 1 is also currently streaming on Disney+.
