The voluntary recall centers on specific lots of dry dog and cat food.
Specific lots of Proctor and Gamble’s (P&G) Eukanuba and Iams dry dog and cat foods have been voluntarily recalled due to potential Salmonella contamination. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) P&G’s routine testing determined that some products made during a 10-day timeframe at a specific manufacturing site should be pulled from themarket as a precautionary measure.
The affected products—29 varieties—were distributed to select retailers across the United States. No other dry dog food, dry cat food, dog or cat canned wet food, biscuits/treats or supplements are affected by this announcement.
No Salmonella-related illnesses have been reported to date in association with these product lots. P&G is asking consumers who purchased a recalled product to stop use and discard it. Veterinarians and pet owners can contact P&G toll-free at 800-208-0172 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday, or via its website at www.iams.com or www.eukanuba.com.
