Millennials are bringing interesting traits into the veterinary hospital, says Heather Romano, SHRM-CP, managing director of human resources and training for iVET360.

Millennials want to change the world, Romano says, which means they need to feel like their work is important. Prior generations were more about wealth compared with only 12 percent of millennials placing a priority on wealth. To respond to this generational need, the veterinary community should change the way they talk to their millennial employees, Romano says. Veterinarians should be more like coaches as opposed to bosses when it comes to the younger generation of employees in their practice.
