BATON ROUGE, LA. — Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine launched a program that trains students in underserved area animal shelters.

Supported by an $800,000 Humane Society of the United States grant, participants work in two-week rotations, gaining medical and surgical experience while assisting with spays, castrations, wellness exams and medical care.
