Nonclinical classes can be incorporated into the veterinary curriculum — the curriculum just needs some restructuring.
Stith Keiser, BA, chief executive officer and director of client experience for Blue Heron Consulting, has been looking into the different ways veterinary schools incorporate nonclinical classes into their curriculum.
He has found that some schools have a required, intensive course that veterinary students need to take for three weeks, while other schools have nonclinical classes as electives only. But Keiser says that these nonclinical classes can be incorporated into the veterinary curriculum over the course of three years — the curriculum just needs some restructuring.
