Kodak introduces computed radiography (CR) systems and other medical imaging solutions specifically to meet the needs of veterinarians.

Kodak will release image capture software designed for small animals in the first quarter of 2005. Large animal software is tentatively slated for release mid-year, the company says.

The digital systems include CR systems for digital image capture and PACS for image storage, viewing and distribution. PACS also enables secure transmission of medical images over the Internet to referring specialists for additional review.

The Kodak medical imaging systems are already installed in the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine and Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine.

The imaging solutions include:

  • Computed radiography systems for digital capture of veterinary medical images
  • A Web-based Kodak Directview system for archiving, managing, sharing veterinary images and information
  • A dry laser-printing system that prints veterinary medical images to dry laser radiographic film.
