Idea Exchange: One benefit of sterilization goes right to the bottom line

Article

Because of the recession, everyone is looking for ways to spend less.

Because of the recession, everyone is looking for ways to spend less. To remind clients of an often overlooked benefit of sterilization, we print a message on our client education invoices whenever a pet has been spayed or neutered at that visit.

The message informs clients that spayed and neutered pets have lower metabolic needs than their intact counterparts do. Thus, by feeding their spayed or neutered pets less, clients prevent obesity, meet nutritional needs, and realize a savings on their pet food bills. Our staff provides assistance in determining how much to feed spayed and neutered pets.
