Fort Dodge Animal Health is reintroducing Hetacin-K? Intramammary Infusion to the dairy market.

Fort Dodge Animal Health is reintroducing Hetacin-K® Intramammary Infusion to the dairy market. Hetacin-K is a once-daily dosing product controlling acute, chronic or subclinical bovine mastitis caused by susceptible strains of Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli that cause approximately 98 percent of the disease in lactating cows. Hetacin-K features a short, 72-hour milk withholding and a 10-day slaughter withdrawal.

In addition to providing effective and economical mastitis control, this product offers the unique option of partial or full-teat insertion with the innovative and exclusive Opti-Sert® protective cap proven to reduce new mastitis infection by at least 50 percent, the company reports. The protective cap helps prevent harmful surface bacteria from being introduced into the teat canal and reduces the risk of teat canal and keratin plug damage.
