Electronic Stethoscope

April 1, 2002

E-Med Innovations introduces e-steth, an electronic stethoscope with four discrete listening ranges

E-Med Innovations introduces e-steth, an electronic stethoscope withfour discrete listening ranges (20Hz to 200Hz heart, 200Hz to 1,800Hz lungs,20Hz to 1,800Hz heart and lungs, and 20Hz to 20,000Hz full signal). Thestethoscope offers a strong signal processing innovation that isolates andamplifies heart and lung sounds, the company says. This enables the veterinarianto examine and listen to specific areas without interference from neighboringorgans, allowing for earlier detection of noises that were previously difficultto hear, the company says. E-steth also features a link to CardioMail. Whenused together, e-steth and CardioMail form a valuable patient assessmentpackage that can be used by both veterinarians and technicians, allowingfor efficient use of time, the company says. Patient baseline recordingsof heart and lung sounds can be stored; analysis of those recordings canbe performed immediately or at a more convenient time. Progression and regressionin disease stage can be monitored and documented, the company says. Screeningfor pathologies is facilitated by direct comparisons of your patient recordingsand those known pathological examples stored in CardioMail's software. Theserecordings can be played for your client during an exam room visit in orderto document the presence of disease or to document its successful treatment, the company says.
