The typical model seen in veterinary practice is the doctor-centered practice where the client relationship lies solely with the doctor, and the practice and employee management is the doctor's responsibility. Tracy Dowdy, CVPM, managing director of MRG Consulting and founder of the Relationship Centered Practice Academy, explains why the typical veterinary practice model is not efficient.

When everything is the doctor's responsibility, it becomes very stressful for the doctor to be in the center. This limits their capacities to serve clients efficiently and manage team members properly.
