Dechra partners with new manufacturer for ophthalmic ointments

May 28, 2014

Consistent supply of two products will begin with more to follow.

Dechra promises a consistent supply of Vetropolycin (bacitracin-neomycin-polymyxin) Veterinary Ophthalmic Ointment and Vetropolycin HC (bacitracin-neomycin-polmyxin-hydrocortisone acetate 1%) Veterinary Ophthalmic Ointment now that the Kansas-based company says it has secured “a reliable and quality manufacturing partner. Dechra reports it has gained approval from the Food and Drug Administration Center for Veterinary Medicine (FDA-CVM) for the site transfer.

Vetropolycin and Vetropolycin HC are FDA-approved topical antibiotic ophthalmic ointments for use in dogs and cats. “With the approval of Vetropolycin and Vetropolycin HC we are now going to turn our regulatory focus to gaining approval of the site transfer for our remaining veterinary ophthalmic ointments—Vetrogen (gentamicin sulfate) Veterinary Ophthalmic Ointment and Vetrachlorcin (chloramphenicol 1%) Veterinary Ophthalmic Ointment,” a release from Dechra states.
