A lack of preanesthetic sedation will increase the need for maintenance (inhalant) anesthetics during the procedure. Hypotension and hypoperfusion may result. With some risk of volume overload, the projected fluid therapy rate at 10 ml/kg/hr is probably excessive for this patient. A more balanced anesthetic technique would be preferred. Pain management is not adequately addressed in this protocol.
