Bulldog statue snatched from clinic vehicle

New Hampshire veterinary practice searches for its missing 'Marilyn.'

Marilyn, a statue of a bulldog belonging to Advanced Veterinary Clinic of Manchester, N.H., has been abducted from her post atop a clinic vehicle--a Mini Cooper painted to look like an ambulance.

Jamie Dekraai, clinic operations manager, says the statue, dubbed 'Marilyn,' was unbolted from the car between the evening of May 26 and the morning of May 28. Marilyn has been with Advanced Veterinary Clinic for a year and was painted last fall by a local artist to make her look like a real bulldog.

The clinic wants the statue returned no questions asked, Dekraai says. She's even stated publicly that Marilyn can be dropped off anonymously at a local shelter and the clinic will come pick her up.

Dekraai says that if Marilyn is not found, the practice might purchase a replacement, but for the time being the staff is hopeful she'll be returned. The practice has yet to receive any tips, but on May 29 a man came into the clinic and pointed out a surveillance camera on a building across the street. The business is going through footage from the camera to see if it turns up anything useful related to the theft.
