Ramsey introduces PetMAP™, which is pocket-sized and designed with enhanced sensitivity for use in companion animals. In contrast to Doppler systems, the item allows "stealth BP" readings with no clipping, no messy gel, no transducer and no speaker box, which often frightens animals, the company says.
The product uses the oscillometric method and measures systolic, diastolic, mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate. Weighing only 4 oz. and powered by two AAA batteries, petMAP operates using quiet and gentle manual inflate with manual or automatic deflation, the company says. There are five sizes of cuffs to cover the range of companion animals with human-sized cuffs available for larger animals.
