Gregory Lisciandro, DVM, DABVP, DACVECC, CEO of FASTVet.com, co-owner of Hill Country Veterinary Specialists, explains the 3 different components that make up the global FAST approach for physical exams.
- AFAST: abdominal FAST
- TFAST: thoracic FAST
- Vet BLUE: veterinary bedside lung ultrasound exam
When you combine all 3 of these formats together, you have a global approach to evaluating every patient without risking the chance of you missing something that could be wrong with them. According to Dr. Lisciandra, this whole body, low-stress approach can be done in 5 to 7 minutes, and is a great extension to the physical exam.
