KANSAS CITY — Central Veterinary Conference (CVC) organizers announced plans to introduce two new veterinary meetings in 2006 in Baltimore and San Diego.
The announcement followed the conclusion of the conference which boasted attendance of more than 6,700 people Aug. 27-30. Veterinarians, technicians, students and property managers absorbed four days of continuing education, wet labs, working lunches and professional tours.
CVC's parent Advanstar Veterinary Healthcare Communications also publishes DVM Newsmagazine, Veterinary Economics, Veterinary Medicine and Firstline magazines.
More than 500 clinical, practice management and team-oriented educational sessions and 16 hands-on wet labs were offered at the event. Veterinarians could get certified for up to 49 hours by their respective state boards, and technicians were eligible for up to 27 CE hours.
"The feedback we've gotten for attendees and exhibitors has been overwhelmingly positive," says Show Director Peggy Shandy Lane of Advanstar Veterinary Healthcare Communications. "From an attendee point of view, we've had very positive evaluations so far, and a lot of people have said they have been coming for years and this one has been the best one, so they are planning on attending again."
About 300 exhibitors brought 2,140 attendees from the vending community. Anecdotes suggest veterinarians came ready to buy.
"The exhibitors we've talked to have had extremely strong buys," Shandy Lane says. "It's been an extremely strong buying show for them, and they have generated an incredible number of leads."
The show coincides with the annual Veterinary Economics Design Conference. VCA Arroyo Animal Hospital won bragging rights as the 2005 Hospital of the Year in Veterinary Economics Hospital Design Competition, the 40th practice to achieve this distinction.
CVC officials ready the debut of the two new meetings in 2006 with distinctive programming: CVC East will be March 31-April 3 in Baltimore, and CVC West is slated for Oct. 27-30 in San Diego. CVC Central will return to Kansas City Aug. 26-29.
"We are excited to bring the same high quality of education programming and variety of learning formats that we've been offering at CVC in Kansas City for the past 17 years to both the East Coast and West Coast."
