Jones Natural Chews Woofers recalled due to Salmonella

Jones Natural Chews Co. voluntarily recalled 245 boxes of Jones Natural Chews Woofers due to potential Salmonella contamination. The recall was issued after the Colorado Department of Agriculture Feed Program found finished product samples tested positive for the bacteria.

The recalled boxes were distributed to Arizona, California, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin between Nov. 1, 2012, and Nov. 12, 2012. Some of the recalled beef patties were distributed in bulk 50-count boxes. Products in bulk could have been sold individually.

The recalled products include:

•Jones Natural Chews Co. Woofers, bulk 50-count box, with item UPC 741956008169, lot 2962GPS and “Best By” date of Oct. 22, 2015; and lot 2892PAL with “Best By” date of Oct. 15, 2015.

•Jones Natural Chews Co. Woofers, one-pack shrink-wrap, 50-count box, with item UPC 741956008657, lot 3102 and “Best By” date of Nov. 5, 2015.

•Jones Natural Chews Co. Woofers, one-pack shrink-wrap, 50-count box, with item UPC 741956008183, lot 2892BF and “Best By” date of Oct. 15, 2015; lot 2962PWV, with “Best By” date of Oct. 22, 2015; lot 2962ASC with “Best By” date of Oct. 22, 2015; and lot 3032ASL with “Best By” date of Oct. 29, 2015.

•Jones Natural Chews Co. Woofers, two-pack shrink-wrap, 25-count box, with item UPC 741956008190, lot 2962ASC, “Best By” date of Oct. 22, 2015; and lot 3032ASL with “Best By” date of Oct. 29, 2015.

A company press release says no illnesses have been reported at this time. Consumers who purchased the recalled product can return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Questions can be directed to the company at 1-877-481-2663, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., CST, Monday through Friday.
