Dr. Conzemius received his DVM from Iowa State University in 1990. He earned a PhD in biomedical engineering in 2000 from Iowa State University. Conzemius received the Pfizer Award for Research Excellence in 2002. He holds several patents, including two for a canine total elbow implant. A professor of surgery at Iowa State from 1996 to 2006, Conzemius is currently a professor of surgery at the University of Minnesota's department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences.
Certainly hip replacement has the longest history, and the best prognosis, but it is important to note that elbow replacement has now been available for a decade and knee replacement for nearly a year.
