Bark Madness (the veterinary professions version of March Madness) winners announced!

Article

It turns out that Air Bud was unbeatable after all. Three savvy veterinary professionals who had him going all the way win top honors.

The winners for Bark Madness are here! (Design by Roxy Townsend)

Air Bud has a stellar sports medicine team monitoring his health, and it looks like all that veterinary care paid off. Our No. 1 seed in the Midwest conference has emerged the champion of dvm360's 2019 Bark Madness tournament.

The tournament breakdown

We had a few favorite upsets throughout the tournament.

The biggest upset of the tourney came in the first round when Dug (from Up), a No. 15 seed, bested Bolt, a No. 2 seed. He hoped to find his way to victory but was distracted by a squirrel in the second round and got beat by the team from Oliver and Company.

In the West conference, No. 4 seed Mr. Peanutbutter (from Bojack Horseman) faced off against No. 13 seed Marley (of Marley and Me fame). Marley pulled out an easy victory, despite the fact that he doesn't have opposable thumbs, and made it all the way to the Elite Eight before getting bested by No. 6 seed Chance and Shadow (from fan favorite Homeward Bound).

In the East conference, the No. 10 seeded 101 Dalmatians, while undisciplined, had plenty of subs to move in and out of games. They continued to trounce opponents, until eking out a win against Clifford the Big Red Dog to make it all the way to the championship game.

In the North conference, Balto pulled his way to near victory, making it to the Final Four before Air Bud came in and beat him for a spot in the championship game. It was a real nail-biter, but Air Bud managed to squeak it out against the 101 Dalmatians to become the victor.

Our bracket winners

Congratulations to all our bracket winners! The competition was fierce, but ultimately, we had three individual winners with top scores:

First place, with a free registration to Fetch dvm360 conference, is Ashley Bremerman, a veterinary assistant (who is currently enrolled with Penn Foster for the Vet Tech program) at Town and Country Animal Clinic in Olney, Maryland.

Second place, who gets the full collection of Vets Against Insanity games, is Jennifer Dorsey, a veterinary assistant at the Animal Health Clinic of Funkstown in Funkstown, Maryland.

Third place, who gets a $50 VISA gift card, is Julianne Schweikert, a veterinary assistant at Banfield of Warminster in Warminster, Pennsylvania.

We also have a bracket winner for the practice Veterinary Associates, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who really pulled together to make it happen. They'll win a full set of Vets Against Insanity to play at their next team meeting. Special shout out to Lauren Radtke, CVT, for entering the team's bracket into the competition!
