Christopher Pachel, DVM, DACVB, CABC: I'll often recommend to my clients that when they bring the new cat into the home, they do have a separate area set up for them initially. Now, honestly, [the cat] may only need it for a couple of minutes or a couple of hours, or it could be days or weeks, we just don't know. So having a separate area where the cat is not going to have to contend with a bunch of people and a bunch of household chaos and other pets, and all of [those] things [is ideal].
